Hair care tips

Hair need as much care as other parts of body. Some of us really love our hair and give extra effort and time for making it more rich and sumptuous. Shiny and healthy hair are something which we all love to have and protection and care is really the demand of such hair. Here are few easy tips that will protect your hair from easily getting damaged and losing its natural shine:

1. Wash your hair timely but not frequently. Generally washing hair more than 3 times a week can make hair thin due to frequent exposure to stripping away of sebum that protects hair. It also increases chances of hair damage. If you want to wash hair more times, use natural ingredients that avoid the risk of exposure to various chemicals. Commonly available herbs including gooseberry (amla), sapindus Mukorossi (reetha), chamomile etc can be applied to hair for providing strength and conditioning.

2. For protecting long hair, use a scarf to protect from dust and pollution. If you don't have a scarf, twist and wrap your hair tightly so as to prevent dust and dirt from penetrating inside the wrapped hair. These also holds hair in position and make easily manageable. You can also use hat but covering hair with a scarf is a better option.

3. Choose the right treatment for your hair. Check the type of hair you have- thick, thin, dry, sensitized, curly etc and treat accordingly. Each type of hair need a different treatment. For dry hair and thick hair deep conditioning is necessary at least once a week. Apply texturizing serum or cream on dry hair. Choose rich hair formulas that add life to dull and dry hair.

4. Dry your hair well after washing. Squeeze out all water by twisting your hair. Use a cloth or a shirt made of cotton than a towel as it absorbs water easily. Do not comb wet hair or do not use dryer directly on wet hair. Let your hair dry completely and then go for styling of your hair.

5. Use hair protection sprays, shampoos, conditioners etc for protection against heat and UV rays. For styling hair, use low temperature settings. For protection against heat from external atmosphere, spray your hair with a nice fragrance. The hair spray will keep your hair protected and fragrant for longer time. Carry a hair spray when you go for journeys o.

6. Diet has a big role to play in hair growth, don't ignore it. Drink lots of water nearly 3.5 -5 liters a day. This improves hair shine and hair growth. Add minerals, antioxidants, vitamins, fatty acids etc by consuming fresh fruits, juices, green vegetables etc. Avoid over fried or foods that are difficult to digest.

7. For hair care, remember cool is better than hot. Yes, cool water for washing hair and cool/ cold blow from dryer is better than hot air. During cold weather conditions, one can choose warm temperatures. The temperature must not exceed more than 20 degrees Celsius for treating with water or air. This improves hair shine and smoothness.

8. If you love to add or mix natural ingredients to hair care products like natural herbs etc, make sure these do not react with the ingredients of hair cosmetics. Follow a safe approach if you do not have much idea about the ingredients you are using for hair care by leaving a gap of at least 6 hours between treatments involving different ingredients.

9. Massage your hair with different organic hair oils and hair care products. Choose different hair oils for this purpose like Argan oil, olive oil, Avocado oil, Jojoba oil, almond oil etc. You can massage before and after hair wash. After washing hair, take few drops of oil on palm and apply gently to dry hair.

10. Do not brush your hair more than twice or thrice a day. Brush only when hair get dry. Brush once in the morning after bath and drying your hair, and secondly before going to bed. If your hair get damaged easily, use a brush with soft boar bristles. For brushing wet hair, use a wide teeth comb.
